Adult Study: By Heart, Conversations with Martin Luther's Small Catechism

By Heart is a richly illustrated, in-depth exploration of the Small Catechism. It is suitable for group discussion, an adult study or personal enrichment. This guide will generate meaningful conversations about the biblical and historical context of the Small Catechism, its link to the church’s faith, and its connection to Luther’s life and your life today. There is an accompanying facilitator guide and DVD that highlight the book for use in a 7-session course for longtime Lutherans and those new to the faith, as well.

November 26-December 3, 2017

Bethlehem Lutheran Church joins a combined effort of NoVA citizens, businesses, local governments, religious groups and non-profits to collect and donate blankets and coats to assist Syrian and Iraqi refugees who have fled their homes to other countries to escape the violence from the civil war in Syria.

New and gently used donations appreciated.  Please drop them at the church by December 3rd.

Advent, 2017

christmas-tree-decoration-ornaments-typesAs we prepare for the joyous Christmas Season, we remember those less fortunate.  Our annual toy drive supports the Community Family Life Services program in Washington, DC with new toys for their store for families in need.  Parents "shop" for their children bringing joy to both the child and the parent.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church also supports Gifts of Hope, an Alternative Gift program.  Choose a gift for someone in need, and receive a gift card to share with a family member or friend.

Hypothermia Shelter at BLC

Bethlehem Lutheran Church will serve as a hypothermia shelter.  Meals, a warm place to sleep, activities and services will be provided to homeless adults.  Many volunteers join together to support our community.  Please consider hosting a meal, serving as an overnight chaperone, or helping in one of many different ways for this critical ministry.
